分享一些thesis statement的tips和常见的写作错误～

一些tips：

- 如果大家觉得写thesis statement觉得很困难的话，可以尝试先确定每段的中心思想是什么(即topic sentence)，然后通过思考它们之间的联系或者一些其他的细节来构建全文的中心论点。

- 最好把它放在introduction的最后一句，虽然你也可以把它放在中间或者其他地方，但是放在最后一句不容易被人忽略，也能显示出重要性。

- thesis statement是对你主题或者研究问题的解释，而不是主体本身。比如如果你要写一篇关于经济的文章，那么你的thesis statement 必须为读者提供一个理解这个主题的方法。

常见的写作错误1：误把它写成title或fragments

Title: My First Smoking Experience

Thesis: Although all my friends thought cigarettes were stylish, I discovered that smoking is actually a disgusting habit with many health risks.

Fragment: That we should become more aware of our environment

Thesis: We should become more aware of our environment so that we can

preserve our wilderness, protect wildlife, and conserve our rapidly disappearing

resources.

thesis statement是一个陈述你将要讨论的主题或表达作者对特定主题立场的句子。如果你想让你的thesis statement更具有说服力，必须要具备下面这三个要素：

1）明确的立场 ：对问题的看法

2）相关的理由：支持立场的相关论据

3）定义 “why”

写作模版&评分等级：

Topic (that addresses prompt)____ verb (required by prompt) ______ (idea 1) _____, (idea 2) ____, and (idea 3)________.

Sample thesis:

The attack of the twin towers forever changed America’s once invincible reputation by showing the world that any country can be targeted and vulnerable to terrorist attacks.

评分等级：

1: 容易让人很困惑你到底是在解释或者论证什么？

2: 缺乏清晰度，虽然解释了，但是解释的不是很清晰

3: 相比较前两个等级明显有更高层次的论述，但是范围过于大或者过于明显。

4: 不仅介绍了论文的目的和重点，同时吸引了读者。
